TOWN OF RUSSELL JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
DEPUTY TOWN CLERK/TREASURER
The Town of Russell is hiring a Deputy Clerk & Treasurer. Russell is a rural town in Bayfield County on the Shore of Lake Superior with beautiful forests, streams and rivers. The population is approximately 1,550 people in addition to many seasonal properties.
This position requires a strong background in bookkeeping, budgets and accounting principles, payroll and payroll tax reporting, personnel policies, communications with the public and elected officials, preparing for and recording meeting minutes, completing County, State and Federal forms and reporting on-line, election administration, and grant administration. Knowledge of Town government administration and statutes governing them will be valuable. Strong knowledge of MS Office software, Adobe. etc. required.
This position will be required to obtain certifications for conducting elections and meeting ongoing election training requirements, the ability to be bonded and hold Notary designation.
This is a permanent part-time position that will eventually assume the appointed position of Clerk/Treasurer requiring re-appointment every three years. The person will work from the Town Offices and their home under a flexible schedule that may require occasional evening/weekend meetings and unscheduled communication with elected officials and the public. All computer, laser printer/scanner, and office supplies are provided. Initially 20 hours a week at $18.00/hour during training and probationary period.
The Deputy Clerk/Treasurer works under the supervision of the Clerk/Treasurer and Town Board and reports directly to the Town Board Chairman or designee.
